FRANK MOORE: ERISA is a federal law. It's the Employment Retirement Income Security Act. And the area of law that we handle under the ERISA Act is area of long-term disability. If you have a private insurance contract with Prudential or Hartford or Met Life, they may offer you a long-term disability contract in benefits if you become disabled. And it's disability for any reason. Under that policy, they pay you a specified amount on a monthly basis of long-term disability benefits.
Generally, what happens in an ERISA case is the insured is denied benefits. The whole time, it's the fox guarding the hen house. It's the insurance company who gives the benefit, decides whether or not they should give it to the insured. Now the insured, our client, you pay a premium for that benefit. You pay actual money for that benefit. And the insurance company now says, well, even though your doctors say you can't work and you're disabled, we still think you can. And we're going to maintain or deny all the benefits.
At Mansmann & Moore, we've been handling these cases for over ten years. And we've become very, very skilled at getting these benefits for our clients. If you've been denied benefits under your long-term disability contract, contact Mansmann & Moore. We can help you.
